Outdoors is important to us
Young children love to explore, investigate, and solve problems with space to develop their gross motor skills. The Stars and Rainbows share the front play area throughout the day, whilst the Sunbeams have an area at the back which they can free-flow into.
At the front there is a boat with steps to practise climbing skills up to the second floor. Whilst underneath there is a darker space to play hide and seek!
There is a large sandpit and a role-play hut which turns into whatever little minds want it to be. There are also plenty of opportunities for mark-making and counting too.
We add water play and bricks so the children can experiment and test theories whilst using their imaginations to turn pipes, crates and tyres into bridges, chutes, assault courses or even big vehicles to drive!
There are lots of wellies, as everyone loves to play outside; even when it rains!
Outings
We like to visit local places to explore. Including:
- The park
- The pet shop
- Railway station
- The library
- The beach
Skylark garden
The nursery also benefits from its own large, private garden, which all ages visit regularly. There is lots of space to run and play and it has an orchard and vegetable plot, too. There is a willow tunnel to share books beneath and we can wave to the trains as they pass by. The garden is situated a 2-minute walk away, at the end of Murray Street.
